Engage Their Interest

It is important as a parent to engage in your children’s interest. Your children have certain gifts, talents and likes. Many times they are not the same as the parent. Just because you may not understand why they have that interest or want to pursue a certain talent, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t engage in it with them. We should actually have MORE vested interest in what and why they like doing certain activities. My daughter loves to go thrift shopping. For me, I am not interested in wearing clothes from the thrift shop, but because she loves it, I take her to thrift stores all the time. I listen to why she picked out what she got. It is more about the spending time together and connecting; then it is about the actual THING.
